A Visalia officer was placed on administrative leave following her arrest in Kings County earlier this week. Detective Samantha Adney, ased to the department's Violent Crimes Unit, was arrested by Hanford police officers on suspicion of domestic violence and driving under the influence, according to Kings County inmate booking records. Adney's husband, also a police officer, called police following an incident at the couple's home. When Adney was stopped by police, she was combative and cursed at them before being arrested, according to sources close to the case but unauthorized to speak openly.
It's not known if Adney identified herself as a police officer when she was arrested by Hanford officers.
She was booked into Kings County jail around a. Wednesday and released from custody roughly three hours later. Adney, 31, has been with the department for six years.
It's unknown if any cases in litigation investigated by Adney will be impacted by her recent arrest. When officers are arrested or charged with a crime, their investigations are evaluated by prosecutors.
Adney began her career at the Visalia Police Department in February She's held asments in patrol, Youth Services, and the Violent Crimes units. She's also assisted with background investigations and recruiting, according to the department.
